Summer 2025 invites you to discover one of Ptuj’s most picturesque and historically rich landmarks – the Ptuj City Tower. Rising from the heart of the old town square, this mighty tower has stood watch over the city for centuries, offering a unique blend of history, architecture, and breathtaking views.
Guided Tours of the City Tower
Join us every Saturday at 5:30 PM for a guided tour where you’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at the tower’s inner workings, learn about its remarkable mechanism, and climb up to the viewing platform. The tour is part of the Summer Experiences 2025 program.
What awaits you?
- Discover the rarely preserved clock mechanism with a 21-meter-long pendulum.
- Learn about the history of the City Tower.
- Enjoy the panoramic view over the old town and the Drava River.
- Find out how the tower once served as a lookout point for timekeeping, fire alarms, and public alerts.
Special experience – The ringing of the great tower bell
As part of the tour, you’ll witness the ringing of the large tower bell, which resounds powerfully every day at 6:00 PM. The echoing sound through the old stone walls and across the square below is a moment you simply have to experience live.

- Adults: €9
- Students, high school pupils, seniors, and people with disabilities: €3
- Children (ages 6–15): €3
- Children under 5: free admission
